About Our Client
Our Client is a profitable, progressive, privately held international life science company specializing in delivering technology-based solutions in the areas of agri-foods (production of meat, milk, eggs and bread), dietary supplements & nutraceuticals, pet food, pharmaceutical chemistry, and personal care technology.

Position Description
The Sales Manager is responsible for developing and implementing a successful business strategy for our Client in South America’s, Human Division, for all sales and service functions offered to its customers in the processed meats, breads, general baking and related food ingredient industries and achieving sales budgets in SA. Also for developing strategic direction and new business development from the point of processing to the retail shelf or food service channel, in processed meats, baking and related sectors of the food industry, including establishing focused research and product development initiatives, marketing programs and product/brand management systems.

* Sales development of our Client’s South America, Human Division business.
* Develop research, product development, marketing and sales strategies for the food ingredient sector.
* Provide insights and recommendations to the Human Division team, US/Europe/Asia group through frequent interaction and communication with the commercial and research/product development teams and target customers.
* Provide strategic direction, budgetary management and resource deployment for the Food Ingredient team.
* Ensure focus and prioritization of strategic goals and assumption of responsibility for their success.

Experience/Skills Required
* 5 to 10 years of experience in this area
* Our Client is looking for someone in the Nutraceuticals/Pharma Industry, Life Sciences, Biotech, Chemicals or Food Industry.
* A business-minded manager with a broad scientific knowledge base who is able to provide leadership, set priorities, delegate responsibilities and meets timetables leading to the attainment of goals.
* An in-depth understanding of the processed meat, baking and related food ingredient marketplace including food producers as well as ingredient suppliers to the industry.
* A proven record of positive business relationship development in the food or allied industry.
* A good understanding of the chemical and biological sciences as they apply to the production of food products.
* Experience as an effective manager, project team player, leader and motivator; and the ability to present ideas effectively and communicate well with peers and all levels of management and subordinates
* Travel required 80% of the time
* Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
* A high degree of personal motivation, a desire to make an immediate contribution and a distinct sense of urgency.
* The demonstrated ability to manage people in fluid matrix environments.
* Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
* Flexible personality
* Self-motivated and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
* Decision making & freedom to act
* It is considered to be a “hands-on” business leadership/development/management position with significant flexibility
* Excellent sales and admin skills
* Sales and marketing strategy and implementation support of the product lines as well as technical support with target customers.
* Bachelor Degree, preferably a post-graduate in food science, chemistry, biochemistry, nutrition or business administration and recent experience working in the food industry in a business management or business development role.
* Masters Degree a plus
